Being a healer is a calling. Many of us mental health and healthcare professionals were drawn to our work out of a deep desire to help others. However, we often find ourselves entrenched in systems that don’t support our needs or the needs of our patients, leading to exhaustion, compassion fatigue, and burnout.
My practice focuses on healing the healers- offering support through consultation, education, and personal exploration to facilitate growth and balance in the challenging work we do. I believe that joy and laughter are powerful tools in our own development, and that connection to others is an antidote to isolation. I incorporate a variety of techniques including psychodrama, improv, music, movement, meditation, and spiritual practices to create community and support practitioners.
I developed this approach after 13 years of working with children and families in community mental health centers. In addition to providing therapy, I ran a doctoral psychology residency and post-doctoral fellowship program, which developed into a specialization in supporting clinicians to do their best work.
Whether a clinician is struggling with a difficult theme in their work, or wants additional knowledge to deepen their practice, my goal is to provide the support needed so that they can bring their full and authentic selves to each encounter.
I am bilingual in Spanish and English, and welcome individuals of all genders and backgrounds.
Receiving support for difficult cases or situations is critical to maintaining wellbeing in the field. I offer clinical consultation for mental health professionals, and client-centered consultation for healers. My approach will incorporate traditional and contemporary psychological theories while integrating cultural, spiritual, and individual factors. Each consultation is customized and adaptive based on your specific needs, whether it be recovering from signs of burnout or building deeper clinical formulations.
Making connections to others who are in similar fields is critical to sustaining vitality. The work we do is hard, and our systems need to find balance through releasing stress. In the context of community, we can release stress that accumulates through our work and lives. In these sessions, we will focus on building relationships with one another, learning about how to release tension, and cultivating joy and laughter. In short, these groups are meant to be FUN.
Feeling like we have the requisite knowledge and tools to do our work is critical. I offer didactic education on a variety of topics related to clinical care. My teaching style is highly interactive, and incorporates elements of community building in order to enliven the learning environment.
